Biomutant is one of the most important indie games of 2021. Experiment 101 worked hard on the game, and the results are excellent for a small indie studio. The game does have shortcomings, but it is worth your time. Check out the review to learn why. However, the game’s lower bar of entry seems to be quite high, higher than several more graphically advanced titles. Experiment 101 requires you to have at least an Intel Core i5-4690K @3.50-3.90 GHz or an AMD FX 8350 @4.00-4.20 GHz coupled with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 4 GB or an AMD Radeon R9 380 4 GB with at least 8 GB of system memory. And those are the bare minimum requirements for your system to run Biomutant. Although we didn’t encounter any optimization issues in low-end hardware, we think Experiment 101 played it safe to avoid complaints regarding poor PC optimization.
The recommended specifications for 1080p 60fps at the highest settings are way higher than most modern AAA titles. The game developer requires you to have at least an Intel Core i7 6700K @4.00-4.20 GHz or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 @3.20-3.60 GHz paired with an Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB or an AMD Radeon RX 590 8 GB to play the game at that level. A 1660 Ti is a GPU known for its 1440p gaming prowess at affordable costs. This shows how demanding the game can get. We can see two reasons: poorly done optimization on Experiment 101’s part, or the comfort zone we mentioned.
