Rockstar Announces a Special Soundtrack for Max Payne 3’s 10th Anniversary!

Max Payne 3 Character

Max Payne 3 was initially launched on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2012. It was added to the Rockstar Games Launcher recently and can also be enjoyed on the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S via backward compatibility. But, Max Payne 3 was nothing like its predecessor. It is based on the same engine as Grand Theft Auto V, which is known as Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE). It uses the same physics engine as GTA games too. However, its biggest difference from the first two Max Payne games is the lack of using graphic novel-style panels with voiceovers for game narration.

It was almost completely 3D and focused on real-time action and the use of cutscenes to propel the narrative forward. But, these innovations did not last. Max Payne’s soundtracks are well known. They were originally composed by L.A.-based noise band HEALTH. The dark setting of Max Payne’s games and Max’s troubled mental setting gave the band a new arena to experiment on. They were able to push their music in a completely different direction and came up with remarkable tracks like “TEARS”, a creation the band has been proud of.

Following the game’s 10th anniversary, Rockstar recently launched a new version of the game’s original and iconic soundtrack. The soundtrack will be released later this year, as a blog post on rockstargames.com indicated. The developers are planning to launch it on digital streaming platforms. A limited-edition vinyl version of the same has also been planned. The new soundtrack list will also include tracks from the game that were never released. All the music will be from L.A. noise band HEALTH, and the album will be called “Max Payne 3 – The Official Soundtrack (Anniversary edition.” We do not have a release date for the soundtrack to date.

Max Payne initially started as a series in 2001 and a sequel dropped in 2003. But it wouldn’t be nine years after the second launch that Rockstar came up with probably the concluding part to Payne’s story. Max Payne was a moderate hit, but it was nothing remarkable for a quality-over-quantity-focused company like Rockstar and a profit-focused corporation like Take Two to continue investing in. However, the publisher has continually supported the game with social media integration and active advertising. And, thus, the company’s little celebration for its upcoming 10th anniversary is no surprise.
