Genshin Impact has been a fairly popular game ever since its initial release in 2020. Since then, the console has made its way to five of the major platforms and has brought a huge profit to the developers, miHoYo. However, it has been two years since Genshin, and the company had been working on a new game for quite some time. We had no information about this game, other than a few leaks, to date. But, miHoYo has finally broken the ice.
The latest game from miHoYo will be called Zenless Zone Zero. Much like the previous game from the developers, it will be an action RPG for PC and mobile set in and around the last city on planet Earth. But, the game is different from Genshin in lots of ways. For starters, the game is based in a futuristic urban city named New Eridu. According to miHoYo, the world gets struck by a supernatural disaster named “Hollows”, and the only urban environment to survive this apocalypse is the New Eridu city.
The game requires players to play as a mercenary named Proxy. The Hollows still exist in and around the city, and players are tasked with guiding NPCs through the storm. The supernatural disaster has brought a bunch of monsters named “Ethereal”. The game requires players to fight these monsters, and this is where the fast-paced hack and slash combat element of the game comes in. miHoYo says fighting these monsters will award players with valuable resources required to survive in the post-apocalyptic world.
The game allows the players to choose their characters. But, for the current beta test, only one character is available, called Gentle House aka The Cunning Hares. miHoYo also has published a name for her, and it is Anby Demara. Three more characters were showcased in the trailer. They are called Billy, Unagi, and Nos Tradamus. Though, we do not have any official information on them.
Each one of these characters has its respective abilities and weapons. Anby carries a heavy sword, while Unagi carries a katana. Billy is an expert in dual pistols, and Nos Tradamus carries a heavy machine gun. The announcement of a closed beta for Zenless Zone Zero might be the biggest anime video game news of the year, but the game does not have a release date till now. miHoYo will also release another RPG named Honkai Star Rail this year. Therefore, it is unlikely that ZZZ will also drop in 2022. The closed beta, however, should come very soon. miHoYo has not informed us about any release date or window yet.
