We love tanks and we want them more, and more! There’s something really fascinating when it comes to tanks. Those huge, hard-hitting machines are all you need to break your enemy’s defense lines and eradicate every one of them. Thanks to some amazing war games, we can now use tanks in the game to our advantage, and guess what… it’s very fun to do! If you are hardcore enough, I think it’s time to check the 20 Best Tank Games for PC. The list is below.
1. World of Tanks
What’s better Tank game than World of Tanks? Well, there isn’t such game! World of Tanks is all you need from a perfect tank game. First, it includes tanks… a lot of tanks! Second, it’s a multiplayer game that includes huge open tank battles which are immersive and fun. And the third, the game looks stunning. Seriously, World of Tanks isn’t just about war, but also customizing, selling and buying new tanks in order to look and feel good in your own war machine. As a strictly multiplayer game, World of Tanks doesn’t have a singleplayer campaign, but I guess you don’t need it here. Tank battles are much more fun with friends or perhaps opponents online.
2. War Thunder
War Thunder is like a World of Tanks on steroids. That means that the tanks are vicious, the battles are unforgivable and the atmosphere is intense as hell. Did I forget to mention that there are planes here? Well, now that you know, you can use planes or tanks to gain an advantage in the battle. Should you choose a tank, you’ll be waging war on the battlefield and watch your enemies die in front of you. Should you choose a plane, well… you can just throw bombs or use a machine gun to kill those bothering you. Either way, the game offers a lot of fun. Plus, this is a free game, so yeah… you might wanna check it.
3. Armored Warfare
Armored Warfare was released in 2015, so it’s not that old game. However, this game does so much right that it’s easily one of my favorite tank games of all time. Being a free game, Armored Warfare offers solid (not great) visuals and stunning urban battles on the modern battlefield. If you want to get out of WW2 roots and engage your enemies with the modern weapons and tactics, this game is perfect for you. Get some high-tech vehicles on your side and watch as the enemy forces crumble around you.
4. Company of Heroes 2
Company of Heroes 2 is a real-time strategy game that focuses on WW2 era. But, this isn’t your cliche game and it’s anything but predictable. Because of this, Company of Heroes 2 lets us explore the USSR in the WW2 as one of the most brutal fronts ever. As the USSR fights to defend their country, you’re going to use both infantry and tank forces to beat the crap out of Nazis. Furthermore, the game has amazing cutscenes, skirmish battles and is generally more approachable by a vast majority of gamers out there.
5. Battlefield 1
Battlefield 1 is a WW1 game that we all waited for. Being developed in Frostbite 3 engine, Battlefield 1 grants amazing visuals and visual fidelity that will leave you satisfied. Battlefield 1 offers both the singleplayer campaign and multiplayer component, and both of these are masterpieces. To make things better, the game has a complete mini-campaign focused on using a British tank to punch through the enemy lines. Aside from that, the infantry battles are heart-pounding as well as aircraft battles.
6. PlanetSide 2
PlanetSide 2 is a very important free FPS game for PC. Although it’s released in 2012, PlanetSide 2 still looks fantastic. On the other side, the futuristic environment adds a special feeling of being a powerful supersoldier who can kill everything on his way to victory. Being a game about the military, PlanetSide 2 offers both soldiers and tanks that you can use. There’s no a singleplayer campaign here, but hey, you get large-scaled online tank battles. This is the real deal, my friends!
7. ARMA 3
ARMA 3 is another military game that lets you do almost everything when it comes to the gameplay. Graphically, ARMA 3 will melt your GPU and even your CPU, as it looks stunning. On the other side, the gameplay is very complex, letting you customize your weapons, drive vehicles, use aircraft and of course, tanks. Tanks are very powerful juggernauts in the game, so if you get your hands on one of these, the enemies better be running, or else, they’ll meet their demise. Don’t forget to try ARMA 3 co-op campaign, it’s also fun.
8. Panzer Corps
Panzer Corps is a turn-based strategy game, and unlike Company of Heroes 2, it’s not a real-time game. This means that the combat is turn-based, as well as some other mechanics in the game. However, Panzer Corps is award-winning tank game that you might want to check out. Don’t expect fancy graphics and spectacular visual fidelity, but a simple, streamlined gameplay and lots of fun. I think it’s not too much to ask for.
9. Call of Duty WWII
Call of Duty franchise features some really good and some really bad games. But, these games are always the most popular when it comes to shooting games. Call of Duty WWII made its return last year and it’s debatable how good it is. For me, Call of Duty WWII is one of the best WW2 games I’ve ever played. And yes, it has tanks, it has battles, it has amazing WWII weapons and much more. The only worrying factor here is in which direction will the franchise go, but as of now, feel free to enjoy the game. You deserve that!
10. Sudden Strike 4
I know there are lots of WW2 strategies, but Sudden Strike 4 isn’t a bad game. In fact, this game is awesome! It’s a real-time strategy that focuses on large-scale battlefields, hundreds of units, jaw-dropping visuals and even commanders that have their own unique abilities. Sudden Strike 4 is a balanced game that doesn’t put too much emphasis on being a hardcore strategy, but rather a game that even you and I can comprehend easily. Of course, I’m not a strategy fan and I know what I’m talking about. This game is legendary!
11. Men of War: Assault Squad 2
Men of War: Assault Squad 2 is the newest game in Men of War franchise that promises a lot to strategy lovers. But, I’m really glad that this game is so good. Aside from solid visuals and smooth gameplay experience, Men of War includes an amazing singleplayer campaign and skirmish battles. If you are, however, wondering about the multiplayer, the game has a shitload of maps and game modes. To be exact, 65 maps and 5 game modes. So… yeah, I think it’s enough for the fans of the franchise.
12. Valkyria Chronicles
Valkyria Chronicles is a SEGA’s view of the 1930’s. We know that Japanese games are super cool and so is Valkyria Chronicles. This game is a bit of everything if you get me. I mean, you can play with various guns, bazookas, grenades and other weapons, or use tanks to blow things up. Either way, Valkyria Chronicles is a fun singleplayer game that you can buy for a cheap price and enjoy whenever you want. Don’t let the reviews fool you; this is a highly underrated game.
13. ShellShock Live
ShellShock Live is as badass as its name. This tank game is all about that multiplayer battles against your friends and visually appealing graphics. ShellShock Live has a strange, albeit eye-appealing graphics which focus on colors and amazing particle effects. However, the graphics aren’t that important as the gameplay. This 2D game allows for using various super-weapons to beat your friends and send them to where they’ve come from. You’ll use everything at your disposal, including grenades and lasers. Show them who’s the boss!
14. Tank Force
Tank Force is a mixed bag, in a positive way. It’s like a World of Tanks, but with a slightly reduced quality when it comes to graphics and gameplay. Being a tank game, it focuses on the battles set in a huge open world. The world is varied, so you’ll carve your way through the deserts, mountains, forests and snowy fields. It’s a half-arcade-half-simulation game and as such, it offers a fair share of a challenge for the players. It doesn’t cost anything to try it, and you can have fun, too!
15. World of Tanks Blitz
World of Tanks Blitz is all about huge tank battles and the real beauty of the tanks. I’m impressed by the amount of fun I’ve had with the game. Aside from fully-customizable tanks, both in terms of performance and visuals, World of Tanks Blitz is an amazing online game. Although the environment isn’t that varied, the game still looks pretty. You’ll be fighting mostly in the deserts, valleys and snowy meadows across the game. If you liked World of Tanks, this game is almost the same, with the few exceptions here and there.
16. Tanki Online
While not exactly the largest game I’ve seen, Tanki Online is probably the most intense tank game you’ll get to play. It features relatively small levels made in a way that you’ll often find yourself surrounded by the enemies and fighting for life. As this is a multiplayer game, Tanki Online will make you show your skills and survive if you are a worthy fighter. The tanks are customizable, so you can apply for the various paint jobs and upgrade your performance, and later use this in your battles. The game overall isn’t anything exceptional, but as a tank game, it lives to my expectations.
17. Blitzkrieg 3
Blitzkrieg 3 is a real-time strategy game, which requires real skill to be played. Do you know why? Well, probably because it’s a multiplayer game, so you’ll need to shake off your enemies in the real-time, and all of that with a mouse! If you love WW2 games, Blitzkrieg 3 is a game that you need to play. I mean, I already counted many WW2 games and I know that you may be tired of it, but the tank battles are so much exciting in WW2. The real shame is that the game isn’t free to play. However, I would pay a full price for such game; it’s that awesome!
18. Red Crucible: Firestorm
Red Crucible: Firestorm is another game that creates an ultimate carnage by letting you use anything on the battlefield. Do you want to stomp your enemies with a tank? You can do that. Or perhaps use a helicopter to launch the missiles? You can do that too! If you want a more subtle approach, Red Crucible offers an infantry unit that you can use to snipe or shoot your enemies to death. Red Crucible: Firestorm is a badass game for badass war and tank lovers.
19. Tank Warfare: Tunisia 1943
Tank Warfare: Tunisia 1943 is a game that can be tailored to both real-time and turn-based lovers. As such, it’s a versatile game for the true strategy lovers. Its story is revolving around Tunisia back in 1943, where the German Panzer battlegroups launched a counteroffensive against the Allied Forces. Sounds exciting? It should because this tank game is one of the best I’ve played and its price speaks for itself. With the huge scale that this game offers and tons of available game modes, I think that it’s a compelling strategy experience for the right players. Be wise and be strong. Otherwise, the battle will be lost.
20. Pocket Tanks
Pocket Tanks is a small game with a big heart. And by big, I mean really BIG. Do you remember playing this game as a kid? I do, and it was a lot of fun, despite its simplistic graphics and visuals. Pocket Tanks is another 2D tank game that focuses on multiplayer battles against your friends. You can use various weapons and tools to shoot and kill your opponent standing on a mountain that’s destructible. You can pretty much do everything here, and if your opponent is hiding behind a mountain… well, burn it to the ground and show him who’s the boss!
