Battlefield 2042 is one of the most anticipated games of this year. It is the seventeenth installment in the Battlefield franchise and is set to launch on November 19th, 2021. The game has been developed by DICE and will be published by Electronic Arts. It will be set in a futuristic sci-fi environment in the year 2042. The game just entered an open beta stage, which will allow you to play it from 6th-9th October.
The Open Beta will have two phases. The first phase (6th-7th October) will be exclusive to those who pre-ordered the title and EA Play members. The second phase, which will run from 8th-9th October, will be free-to-play for everyone. There will be no fixed play schedules. Servers will be up 24/7 for players to enjoy as and when they wish.
Players also can pre-load the Open Beta right now via the EA Origin desktop app to drop into action as soon as the game goes live.
Battlefield 2042 will have three modes at launch. These include All-out-Warfare, Battlefield Portal, and Hazard Zone. All-out-warfare will sport the “Breakthrough” and “Conquest” modes, which are a staple to the series.
This Open Beta focuses on the “All-out-warfare” and “Conquest” modes. Your team will control several “sectors” of the map. The longer your team controls these sectors, the more points your team scores. The team with the most points wins the game.
Each match will be a 128-player online game. You will be limited to 64 players on the last generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
Maps Included in the Open Beta
Battlefield 2042 will have 13 maps at launch. However, the Open Beta can be played on only one map – Orbital.
Orbital is a medium-sized map. It is based on parts of the region in French Guiana. A rocket is seen in the middle of the map, which attempts to launch after a certain in-game time. If the launch goes off without any obstacles, the rocket will enter outer space. However, if it sustains sufficient damage, the rocket will crash during launch. This crash will significantly damage the landscape around the launch pad. This can be strategically used against the enemy.
Orbital is also periodically disturbed by tornadoes. This can be used to turn the luck of a match or destroy strong aerial vehicles. AVs get destroyed as soon as they touch the superstorm.
The Open Beta will feature only four specialists. You can play as any one of them. The included specialists are:
- Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky
- Engineer class
- Uses a sentry fireteam that can tag enemies
- Maria Falck
- Support class
- Can heal allies from a distance
- Can revive fallen comrades
- Wikus “Casper” van Daele
- Recon class
- Has access to drones and movement sensor
- Website Mackay
- Assault class

Battlefield 2042 will launch on November 19, 2021, for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
