Three Games are Leaving Game Pass on December 31st

Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass is an awesome subscription service for gamers looking to amass a huge game library without breaking their bank. This subscription from Microsoft has a collection of over 100 high-quality games players can play at will. All this makes even more sense when you know the Standard Edition of the service is priced at $9.99. Thus, nearly everyone can afford it.

The Ultimate Edition of the subscription, which has an even greater value for money ratio, costs just $14.99. At that price, it includes over 100 high-quality games from Microsoft, along with the dozens of games that come with an EA Play subscription. This is topped by perks and offers that make the Game Pass subscription a must-have.

Microsoft is smart and doesn’t offer the same collection of games throughout the years for gamers to play. That would have made things too boring. Consequently, many players wouldn’t have returned to the service after they have tried out the games they like. Thus, Microsoft periodically keeps removing games that have enjoyed their sweet time on the subscription and brings in new titles for subscribers to enjoy. This move on Microsoft’s part is highly appreciated, and it gives us new content to enjoy monthly.

Games Exiting Game Pass This New Year’s Eve

On New Year’s Eve this year, three games are leaving the subscription service. They have all been a part of the Xbox Game Pass for over a year and a half at this point. The list of these three game titles is given below:

1. Yakuza Kiwami for Windows 10

Yakuza Kiwami, originally a PlayStation exclusive, is a great game in the Yakuza series. It is a remake of the Yakuza game from 2002 and was developed by the renowned console makers-turned-developers, Sega. Yakuza Kiwami was critically acclaimed for the improvement over its original title and was released on the PlayStation 4 in 2017. The game was added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription on April 22, 2020.

2. Yakuza Kiwami 2 for Windows 10

Yakuza Kiwami 2 was a remake of Yakuza 2, a game title from 2006. It is an action-adventure video game, much like the other Yakuza games, and was developed by Sega. The remake debuted on the PlayStation 4 in December 2017. The game was added to the subscription service on July 30, 2020.

3. Yakuza 0 for Windows 10

Yakuza 0, a prequel to the aforementioned Yakuza game from 2002, is the oldest of the three. It also enjoyed the longest stay in the Game Pass subscription, from February 26th, 2020 to December 31st, 2021. The game was released for PlayStation 4 in 2017 (2015 in Japan), and PC and Xbox One on the same date it was added to the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

Parting Words

Although these three titles are leaving the subscription, several new ones will be added on New Year’s Day, and we can guess some AAA titles are coming this time. This is because all three Yakuza titles are classified AAA. Therefore, Microsoft might be planning for some viable replacements. We don’t have any confirmation regarding which games are being added yet, however. We will update you as soon as Microsoft announces them in a press release.
