How to Increase FPS in Apex Legends

Apex Legends Gun

Apex Legends is a first-person shooter PC game that runs on the Unity engine. The game has been designed with charming cartoon graphics, making it an attractive proposition for gamers looking for an immersive and engaging gaming experience. One of the issues that gamers face with Apex Legends is related to its performance. Many gamers have complained about the game’s poor frame rate and how it significantly affects their experience in-game. This segment shows how to boost FPS in Apex Legends to enjoy a better gaming experience. You need to do a few things to increase your FPS in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends Minimum System Requirements

Before making changes to your system, it is important to ensure that it meets the lowest system requirements for Apex Legends. This will ensure that the game runs smoothly. Here’s a short version:

  • Operating System: 64-bit Windows 7
  • CPU: Intel Core i3 6300 3.8 GHz or AMD FX 4350 4.2 GHz
  • Memory: 6 GB of RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7850
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive Space: 22 GB

1. Configure Apex Legends Launch Options

The first thing that you need to do is to set up the launch options for Apex Legends. Players can do this by:

  1. Opening the Origin client.
  2. Clicking on the My Game Library tab.
  3. From here, right-click on Apex Legends and select Game Properties.
  4. In the window that appears, click on the Advanced Launch Options tab.
  5. Enter the following text in the Command line arguments field: +fps_max unlimited. This will disable the frame rate limit and allow your system to render as many frames as possible.

2. Update Your Graphics Drivers

Outdated graphics drivers can also cause performance issues in games. It’s crucial to ensure that you’re employing the latest version of your graphics drivers. You can usually find these drivers for your graphics card on the manufacturer’s website: NVIDIA Driver Downloads and AMD Drivers and Support.

3. Lower Your Apex Legends In-Game Visual Settings

Suppose you still have performance issues after updating your graphics drivers and configuring the launch options. In that case, your system is likely not powerful enough to run the game at high settings. In that case, you’ll need to lower the in-game visual settings. Start by setting the resolution to 1280×720 and then slowly increase the settings until you find a balance between performance and visuals that suits you.

PC Graphics Settings

If you’re playing Apex Legends on a laptop or a desktop computer, you need to change the “Display Mode” setting. This setting is located under the “Video” tab. By default, this setting is set to “Fullscreen.” However, it would help if you changed it to “Windowed Borderless.” This will help improve your game’s performance as well as your FPS. Another setting that you need to change is the “V-Sync” setting. This setting is also located under the “Video” tab. By default, this setting is set to “On.”

However, changing it to “Off” would be best. This will help improve your game’s performance and reduce the input lag. It would help if you also changed the “Adaptive Resolution FPS Target” setting. This setting is located under the “Advanced Video” tab. By default, this setting is set to “Off.” However, you need to change it to “60” or whatever the Hz of your monitor is (75, 144, 240, and so on). This will help improve your game’s performance and reduce screen tearing.

4. Tweak Your NVIDIA Settings

If you’re using an NVIDIA graphics card, you can try improving your game’s performance by tweaking the NVIDIA settings. You need to open the NVIDIA Control Panel and navigate to the “Manage 3D Settings” page. On this page, you need to set the “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance.” You should also set the “Texture Filtering – Quality” setting to “High Performance.”

5. Configure AMD Settings

If you’re using an AMD graphics card, then you can try to increase Apex Legends FPS by tweaking the AMD settings. To do this, you must open the AMD Catalyst Control Center and navigate to the “Gaming” tab. On this page, you need to set the “Texture Filtering Quality” setting to “High Performance.”

6. Clean Temporary Files on Your PC

At this point, we suggest getting rid of all the temporary files stored on your computer. These temporary files can take up a lot of space and cause your computer to operate slowly. By using the steps, you can clean the temporary files:

  1. Press the Windows button + R or click the start bar and search for “run”.
  2. In the Run bar, enter “temp” and click OK.
  3. You’ll now see a list of temporary files. Either select them individually or press Ctrl + A to get them all.
  4. Press the Delete button on your keyboard and empty your Recycle Bin.

7. Reduce Background Processes

Another reason your computer might be running slow is that too many processes are running in the background. This can include antivirus programs, web browsers, and other programs you might be unaware of. To reduce the number of background processes, you need to do the following:

  1. Click on the “Start” button.
  2. Type “msconfig” in the search box and press Enter.
  3. In the “System Configuration” window, click on the “Services” tab.
  4. Check the “Hide all Microsoft services” checkbox.
  5. Click on the “Disable all” button.
  6. Click on the “Apply” button and then click on the “OK” button.

8. Reboot Your Computer

If you still have performance issues, you should try rebooting your computer. This will help refresh your system and could potentially improve your game’s performance.

Nobody likes a game that lags. It is essential to have a good FPS (frames per second) to enjoy your game. Therefore, we came up with the methods above to try to increase your FPS in Apex Legends. Hopefully, these tips will help you improve your game’s performance. By following our tips, you should be able to boost your game’s frame rate and frame time and have a better gaming experience.
